Inchcape Fleet Solutions Achieves Cyber Essentials Certification

25 September 2015

Inchcape Fleet Solutions (IFS) has today announced that it has successfully achieved certification for the Government’s new Cyber Essentials scheme. Launched in early June 2014, the Cyber Essentials scheme is designed to improve the resilience of UK businesses to cyber security threats, and provides for verifiable certification of their robustness.

The UK Government require all suppliers that are bidding for contracts that include the handling of certain sensitive and personal information to have successfully completed certification against the Cyber Essentials scheme. As part of IFS’s ongoing commitment to offer the very best practice in information security for their UK public sector clients, IFS are extremely pleased to add this accolade to their existing ISO27001 certification for Information Security Management Systems.

IFS assessment was conducted by IT Governance, following the successful completion of which certification was awarded by CREST. CESG, the information security arm of GCHQ, engaged CREST to develop and deliver an effective independent technical assessment of the controls outlined in the Cyber Essentials Scheme. Adoption of these controls is estimated to address over 80% of current cyber threats, and will make the UK a safer place to conduct business online.

Alan Calder, founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, says: “I am delighted to congratulate Inchcape Fleet Solutions on their successful certification. By attaining the Cyber Essentials badge we hope it demonstrates to IFS clients that they have a robust standard of cyber security in place for minimising attacks and safeguarding client data.”

Additional customer assurance is provided by IFS’s ongoing ISO27001 certification. This international Information Security Management System standard which covers IFS’s activities is also complemented by ISO9001 and ISO14001 certifications for Quality Management and Environmental Management System.
