IFS colleague, Shanel Edin cuts off 21 inches of her “Rapunzel hair” for a good cause!!!

It’s been a very busy month already for our Project Coordinator, Shanel Edin.

Her first big achievement was being awarded her Prince 2 Practitioner qualification to become a Project Manager for our business – a well-deserved recognition of her commitment to her studies.  Well done Shanel!

Her second inspirational achievement was having 21 inches of her “Rapunzel hair” cut off in order to raise money for a 4 year old girl to receive life-changing surgery.

For those of you who know her, Shanel is the IFS Rapunzel, having the longest hair you’ve ever seen! (until last weekend).

After 10 years of growing her hair she finally faced her biggest phobia and bravely had 21 inches of her hair cut in order to help a 4 year old little girl who suffers from Quad Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy receive Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, an operation that can literally change her life.

“SDR is currently NOT available on the NHS in the U.K.” explained Shanel  “The operation itself costs £22,500 and the intensive physiotherapy necessary for 2+ years after the operation (also not funded by the NHS) costs a further £20,000+, so every penny we can raise really will make a difference”.

Shanel will now also be donating her cut hair to a cancer trust that makes wigs for patients who have lost their hair during cancer treatment.

Amount Raised

With the generous support of family, friends and colleagues Shanel has already smashed her target of raising £250.  The amount raised via her Justgiving page currently stands at: £410.
